A Lifeing Circle

Know Pain, Know Gain: Foundations of Pain Reprocessing

An eight-week Lifeing Circle with Dana Schnell

Living with chronic pain can feel overwhelming. You may have tried countless treatments, searched for answers, or wondered why your body continues to sound the alarm even when nothing seems to explain it. It can be exhausting, confusing, and isolating.

This eight-week Lifeing Circle is an invitation to explore chronic pain through a different lens. Together, we'll learn how the brain and nervous system work to protect us, why pain can sometimes persist even when the body has healed or there is no ongoing tissue damage, and how modern pain science offers hope for recovery. Using principles from Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), nervous system education, and practical coaching tools, we'll begin building new experiences of safety, curiosity, and confidence.

This Circle is designed to introduce the foundations of neuroplastic pain and provide practical skills you can begin using right away. You won't be expected to have all the answers or make dramatic changes overnight. Instead, we'll focus on understanding, practicing, and taking small, meaningful steps together in a supportive community.

Is This Circle Right for You?

This Circle may be a good fit if you...

  • live with chronic or persistent pain that has lasted longer than expected
  • are curious about the connection between the brain, nervous system, and chronic pain
  • feel frustrated because medical tests or treatments have not fully explained your symptoms
  • want to better understand the science behind neuroplastic pain in a supportive, non-judgmental environment
  • are looking for simple, practical tools that can be incorporated into everyday life
  • want to replace fear and frustration with curiosity, self-compassion, and hope
  • enjoy learning alongside others who understand the challenges of living with chronic pain

Whether you are taking your very first step or continuing your healing journey, you are warmly welcomed here exactly as you are.

What We'll Explore Together

Together, we'll build a foundation of understanding while learning practical tools that can help reduce fear and increase a sense of safety. Each week builds on the previous one, allowing you to gradually strengthen your understanding of neuroplastic pain and develop skills you can continue using long after the Circle ends.

Topics may include:

  • Understanding neuroplastic pain and the brain's protective role
  • Building evidence that supports a neuroplastic diagnosis
  • Learning Somatic Tracking and safety reappraisal
  • Practicing nervous system regulation strategies
  • Recognizing how stress and other danger signals influence pain
  • Identifying protective patterns that may unintentionally reinforce symptoms
  • Developing greater self-compassion
  • Creating a personalized toolbox for continued growth

By the end of eight weeks, you will...

  • better understand how chronic pain can develop and why it sometimes persists
  • feel more confident recognizing patterns that contribute to your pain experience
  • have practical tools to help calm your nervous system and respond differently to pain
  • leave with a personalized foundation you can continue building on after the Circle ends

Dana Schnell, PCC

Professional Certified Coach (ICF) • Health & Wellness Educator • Founder of Know Pain, Know Gain

Hi, I'm Dana Schnell, founder of Know Pain, Know Gain, a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation, and an educator with Master's degrees in Community Psychology and Education.

For over 25 years, I've been passionate about helping people learn, grow, and reconnect with their own strengths. My work combines modern pain neuroscience, nervous system education, and compassionate coaching to help people better understand chronic pain and develop practical tools that support meaningful change.

I've completed specialized training in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), Pain Education and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Pain, and Motivational Interviewing for Chronic Pain. I'm also a member of the International Coaching Federation and the Association for the Treatment of Neuroplastic Symptoms (ATNS), where I continue learning from leaders in the field.

What I love most about this work is watching people move from confusion and fear toward understanding and hope. My goal is to make complex neuroscience approachable, practical, and applicable to everyday life. You can expect a welcoming environment where questions are encouraged, small wins are celebrated, and every participant is treated with compassion and respect.
